How about some clean and renewable gasoline for $1.85 a gallon? This press release is from the National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition. From my own research, I know this technology to be both real and available now. How much more will you pay for gas until you demand access to ethanol-enhanced fuel?

Detroit , MI – E85 will sell for $1.85 per gallon at two Citgo fueling locations on Wednesday, October 12 in celebration of the introduction of the fuel at two metro Detroit facilities. E85 is a high-powered, clean-burning fuel that can be used in vehicles offered from several automobile manufacturers including Ford and General Motors. About six million FFVs travel on American roads today.

John DiMartini from Knight Enterprises, the distributor supplying the E85 product in Dearborn Heights and Southfield, noted, “Knight Enterprises is proud to offer high quality E85 at an economical price to the Detroit area FFV owners. With every purchase of E85, consumers should be happy to know that they are helping the U.S. reduce its dependency on foreign oil and additionally, reduce auto emissions in the air our families breathe.”

Knight Enterprises also plans to open additional E85 facilities in the next few months. Currently, the state of Michigan has two other E85 refueling locations: Peterson Oil in Greenville and Don’s Windmill in Dimondale. All fueling locations along with a complete listing of E85 compatible vehicles can be found at www.E85Fuel.com.

Michigan currently has one operational ethanol plant, Michigan Ethanol, LLC which has the capacity to produce approximately 40 million gallons of ethanol per year. Michigan also has three more ethanol plants under construction and one in the permitting process. Upon completion of these plants, the state’s ethanol production will annually reach approximately 250 million gallons.
